Merit Scholarship Program Overview

Harbor Country Day School Merit Scholarships are available for all qualifying new students in grades five through eight. The scholarship is a discount of the standard tuition rate. Merit scholarships are for tuition only and do not apply to the other fees and charges related to attending Harbor Country Day School.

Once a Merit Scholarship award has been extended, it will apply to the tuition for each academic year the student attends Harbor Country Day School. However, while the Merit Scholarship is a multi-year proposition, it will only remain in effect if the attending student maintains an overall academic average of B or higher.

Merit Scholarship Program Guidelines

In order to be eligible for a Merit Scholarship, prospective students must adhere to the following requirements:

  1. Take the ERB at Harbor Country Day School on a designated date.
  2. Apply to grade 5, 6, 7, or 8 as a new student.
  3. Score at or above 70% of ERB norms in verbal, reading comprehension or quantitative analysis, with a minimum of 50% on the others.
  4. Meet Harbor Country Day School’s academic admissions criteria.
  5. Complete the formal application process.

Additional Merit Scholarship Considerations

The school will award Merit Scholarships for new students going into grades 5, 6, 7, and 8, each academic year subject to openings in each grade. If the number of eligible students exceeds the maximum number of Merit scholarships available in a particular grade for a particular academic year, Merit Scholarships will be awarded to the students with the highest ERB scores.
