About Harbor

Situated on eleven beautiful acres in the Village of Head of the Harbor, Harbor Country Day School is a Nursery through Grade 8 non-profit independent school.

Founded in 1958 by energetic and generous local parents, Harbor offers a challenging and engaging academic program in a friendly, caring community. For fifty-one years, a Harbor education has been marked by its family feeling, the deep friendships that students form with each other, and an exceptional educational grounding that serves our students well in their next schools and in their lives. The energetic and dedicated teachers guide their students to excel in the classroom, on the playing fields, in the music and art rooms, on the stage, and in their communities.

Harbor Country Day School is chartered by the New York State Board of Regents, is accredited by the New York State Association of Independent Schools (NYSAIS) and is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS).

Harbor Country Day School is non-sectarian. It is unaffiliated with, or owned by, any other entity. It is an independent nonprofit organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service code, and is governed by a self-perpetuating board of trustees.
