Parents' Association
Harbor Country Day's thriving Parents' Association reflects the deep commitment of Harbor's parents to their children's education, and to the philosophy that education is a shared enterprise of home and school.
The PA is dedicated to promoting a sense of community, facilitating communication between Harbor and its families, and raising funds for programs and events that enrich and enhance school life.
The PA consists of a group of project committees, each taking on a responsibility that may last from a few months to the entire year. The chairs of each of these committees serve on a coordinating committee, which meets monthly.
Some examples of project committees in 2008-2009 are:
- Trunk or Treat -- Harbor's annual safe on-campus Halloween celebration
- Class parents -- organizing volunteers to provide services for each grade
- Book Fair -- the annual book fair, which brings in publishers, poets, and writers, as well as thousands of books for our students and the surrounding community
- 50th Anniversary Gala -- planning and running the gala dinner dance to be held at Flowerfield on May 16, 2009.
- Family Fun nights
- Social Event committees -- planning three major all-school events during the year to promote a sense of the Harbor community
- The Harbor Community Fashion Show -- a high-energy, informal celebration of students, teachers and families.
Specific dates for this year's events are listed on the Calendar and News pages.
