Welcome to Harbor Country Day School's Upper School Program. The Upper School consists of grades 5 - 8. These middle school years are critical years in a child's adolescence. Developmentally, they are going through changes, both physically and cognitively. At Harbor, we recognize these middle school years as a special time in adolescent development. Our team of teachers finds meaningful ways to challenge students' energy and intellect. A well-designed, sequential curriculum, allowing increased freedom and demanding greater responsibility, has been developed for these years. The program is challenging and departmentalized, with grade level homeroom teachers serving as advisors. The curriculum includes advanced courses and two foreign languages.

Overnight field trips take on a special importance; not only to complement the curriculum, but to develop and promote a willingness to trust and to cooperate with others. Leadership roles are encouraged through the operation of the School store, Student Council, community service projects, National Junior Honor Society, interscholastic athletics, and involvement in musical productions.

Faculty and administration place the highest priority on working closely with parents to ensure that each student is able to receive the most from a Harbor education. Our Faculty, working as a team, offers each student the opportunity to engage in the learning process, to excel in areas of personal academic interests, and to explore the endless possibilities that a strong education can offer. The combination of individual attention, academic rigor, and a nurturing environment prepare Harbor students for their academic future. Following graduation from Harbor, students are well prepared for high school and beyond.
